Don't let a poor layout keep your readers
from fully engaging with your book.

It's taken a lot longer than you thought it would, but all that effort has finally paid off. That book you've worked on for ages finally done! And now, all you want is a print copy for your own and for everyone who doesn't have an eReader. But for the life of you, you can't figure out how to make the Createspace template work for you.

A good interior design in your print book can make all the difference between getting your book in bookstores or the local library and being round-filed. The wrong typeface choice, margins, or spacing can scream "self-published," which—for better or worse—is still frowned upon in some circles. It doesn't matter how good the story may be if the interior doesn't look like all the rest.

Certain typefaces have been scientifically proven to be easier on the eyes to read, but are usually not the default on the downloadable templates. A widow or an orphan (a single word left on its own line) can create large blocks of white space that can distract readers. Ragged justification or a shifting bottom margin can just leave a reader with a sense of uneasiness. If you do not have the time to figure all of this out yourself, let me help!

I know how much time and effort you have put into your book. I've been there. I also know the frustration of trying to work with the free templates provided by the printers. I, too, have spent hours trying to figure them out as well, and found a much easier way. Let me use my years of professional and indie experience to help you produce a product worthy of all the blood, sweat, and tears that have already gone into the book.

I have been independently published for eight years, after seven years with a traditional publisher. Before that, I worked for years as a book editor and interior graphics designer. My emphasis as a journalism major was publication design. I spent 10 years as a freelance graphic designer for businesses, including designing newsletters. As an independent author, I have worked with POD printers such as Createspace and Lulu, laying out both hard cover and soft, and have a large collection of templates in various book sizes to choose from.

You have enough to worry about—like figuring out how and where to market your new book. Let me worry about making it look good!
