#WIPJoy Day 5

Back on track after cramming in three days at once, but only God knows for how long this streak will last.

Here's not just a line, but a paragraph of description of the area around Pendleton, Oregon in the Umatilla Indian Reservation. That part of the state really is beautiful.

Buffy sat at the top of a hill, overlooking a steep valley, carved out by thousands of years of rainwater off the Blue Mountains, not really seeing the sea of sage and greenery around her. A recent rainstorm had come through, turning the prairie grass green and vibrant, but she could not appreciate the beauty all around her. The line of green that indicated the Umatilla River was right in front of her, but it held no sway over her as it normally did.

We all knew it was going to happen... I fell behind on my blogging. Bad me! So, I will attempt to catch up while waiting for my turn for my lovely, talented cousin to cut my hair.

Officer Buffy Peckington in Unfaithful is an average 20-something. She is white with long-ish brown hair which she normally wears up and tight so that it will fit under her officer's hat.

This is a hard one. Most of my stories and characters have a theme song, but Buffy and Unfaithful does not.

#WIPJoy Day 1

For my WIPJoy this month, I am focusing on my Camp NaNo project... which maybe means I can get past Day 10. :-P

"Camp," as some of you may know is more laid-back and less structured. For Camp this year, I am going to be finishing a couple of projects that are not yet done. When the WIPJoy prompt asks about a certain character or plot point, I'll just focus on whatever it is I am working on.

For my first project, I am going to finish Unfaithful (the subject of my last WIPJoy). This project will, hopefully end up being a full-length crime suspense novel (or a long novella). When I publish, it will be under the name Sarah Farabee, one of my ancestors.

My second project is finishing up Prodigal, my retelling of Jesus' Prodigal Son story, which I worked on during November's NaNoWriMo last year. Andrew has been stuck evading the Rio mafia and local poachers along the river since December 1, and it's time to bring him home. This will probably also be published under Great-great-grandma Sarah's name.

If I have time/words left over after those two books are finished, I will probably pick up The Dragonrider's Wife again and get that finished. TDW is my first attempt at a high-ish fantasy, and is a damsel-in-distress, girl-in-a-tower-quest told from the girl's point of view.

All told, I will have a word count goal of 150,000 words (including words already written), but I may need to raise that if I am able to get to TDW in time.

So, I'm supposed to write something about myself. Well, I am a Christ-follower, first and foremost; then a wife, now of 14 years; then a mom to a very busy almost-10-year-old; and then a writer. All of that, unfortunately, means my writing sometimes gets pushed to the back burner.
