Every Friday, my friends Alana and Hallee ask for a small snippet of a work in progress that has something to do with the particular date.
Since it's the sixth of Februrary, and it's raining, here are six paragraphs from the plague of Hail in my current WIP God of Chaos (a biblical historical fiction)....
“What do you suppose it is?” Yered asked, looking at the strange objects. Ishvi looked over his shoulder and stopped.
“What is it?” he asked stooping down to get a better look. “Should we touch it?”
“Is it dangerous?” Yered asked.
“I wonder if there is more in the river,” Ishvi said, jumping up and running over to the shadoof. He pulled another bucketful of water out of the river and when Yered emptied it, there was another two or three of the strange things. He held out a tentative finger to touch the strange object and yelped when his finger made contact.
“What is it!?” Ishvi said, running over to his brother.
“It is… it is… cold!” Yered said, touching the white object again. He picked one up and held it in his hand. “It is colder than anything I have ever touched.” He handed one of the white things to his brother, and Ishvi also cried out.
